Some people think that introducing a congestion tax is the best way to reduce traffic problems in cities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

어떤 이들은 혼잡세를 도입하는 것이 도시에 교통 문제를 해결하는데 가장 좋은 방법이라고 생각합니다. 이에 대해 어느 정도 동의하거나 동의하지 않나요?

Agree - congestion taxes reduce traffic problems in cities.

1. The higher the congestion tax is, the more drivers will cancel their car trips or take public transportation, thereby reducing traffic congestion.

2. The congestion tax can generate substantial revenue, which can in turn be reinvested in improving public transportation systems.

Disagree - introducing congestion taxes is not the most effective way to reduce traffic in cities.

1. Higher congestion taxes may impose a financial burden on disadvantaged people in society. While wealthy drivers can easily cover the extra cost, underprivileged commuters face an unfair financial strain, which can widen the socioeconomic divide.

2. The tax system cannot address the root cause of traffic jams in large cities. Traffic congestion is often caused by insufficient road capacity or inefficient traffic signals. Therefore, charging drivers alone is unlikely to solve these underlying problems.
